No Shave November 2019: Loudoun Deputies Toss Razors For Research
Loudoun County deputies will give up their razors this November to raise funds for cancer research and treatment.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office will throw out their razors this month as deputies and staff once again participate in No Shave November, a national movement designed to raise funds for cancer research and treatment.
The goal of No-Shave November is to raise awareness for cancer research by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free, according to the movement's website. Those participating set up fundraising pages and also donate the money they typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention and treatment.
Over the past two years, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office raised more than $31,000 that was donated to the cause. Each participating deputy also contributes $25 to participate and help fund organizations including the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Fight Colorectal Cancer and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
