This NoVA County Led VA In Visitor Spending In 2025
This county drew repeat visitors to its wineries, boutiques and outdoor activities.

LEESBURG, VA – Loudoun County was ranked first in the state of Virginia for visitor spending, with more than $5.1 billion spent by tourists in 2025, according to a release by Loudoun's tourism department. That amount equals 14.1% of total visitor spending in Virginia.
According to Visit Loudoun, overall visitor spending increased by 3.8% from 2024. Transportation accounted for the bulk of visitor spending at $3.04 billion. Food and beverage spending totaled $774.4 million, a 4.4% increase year-on-year, and lodging brought in $466.4 million, up more than 5%. The figures come from data released by the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
Washington Dulles International Airport is a major contributor to the local economy, Visit Loudoun notes, and 2025 was another record year for passenger traffic at the airport.

The county says its recent Visitor Profile Study found that Loudoun County visitors are almost all satisfied with their trips and nine out of 10 visitors return. Overnight visitors spend almost $4,000 per party per trip, the county says, with key activities being shopping, special events, outdoor recreation and wineries.
Tourism supports more than 19,000 jobs in Loudoun County, Visit Loudoun reports.

In the release, a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson noted that 2025 was another record year for passenger traffic at Dulles. Washington Dulles International Airport is a major contributor to the local economy, Visit Loudoun notes.
Across the state, 117 million visitors generated a record-high $36.2 billion in spending in 2025, according to the Economic Impact of Visitors to Virginia report, a 3% increase from the year before. Tourism supports more than 332,000 jobs in the state, according to the report.
