Police: Ashburn Man Brandished Gun at Deputies
He was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic assault, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff’s deputies defused a tense situation at around midnight Monday when they convinced an Ashburn man to drop his gun during a confrontation outside his home.
Ronald L. Thomas, 52, “made a statement threatening the lives of law enforcement officers” before dropping his firearm to the ground, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody at the scene and charged with two counts of domestic assault, brandishing a firearm and being drunk in public.

Deputies responded at 11:51 p.m. Monday to a residence in the 24000 block of Bishop Meade Place for a reported domestic-related assault. They learned that Thomas was holding a firearm.
As the deputies arrived at the home, two residents were brought outside and taken to a safe location, the sheriff’s office said. Thomas, who was inside the home, then walked out.

One deputy ordered Thomas to drop his weapon. Thomas threatedned the deputies and was again ordered to drop his weapon. He then complied and dropped his firearm, the sheriff’s office said.
