Police: Leesburg Gas Station Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Leesburg police announced Tuesday that they apprehended the suspect who robbed a town gas station last week and got into a scuffle with a cashier.

There were no injuries reported in the June 23 heist. Steven Tyrone Williams, 48, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with robbery in connection with the early-morning incident at the Shenandoah Exxon, 984 Edwards Ferry Road NE, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

The police did not release details on how, where or when the suspect was apprehended. Williams is being held without bond in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center pending arraignment.

At about 4:47 a.m. on June 23, Williams allegedly entered the Exxon gas station/convenience store, walked behind the counter and began to bag several packs of cigarettes. He then opened two different cash registers and took an undisclosed amount of cash from each register, the police said.

As the suspect was putting the money into his pocket, he was confronted by the store’s cashier, and a brief struggle ensued. WIlliams eventually broke free and ran from the store, the police said.
