Police: Pedestrian Dies in DUI Crash
Victim was attempting to cross Cascades Parkway, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A Sterling man has died after being struck crossing the roadway Friday night, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Officers claim the driver in the incident was under the influence of alcohol.
The victim has been identified as Jeffrey A. Carter, 53. He was taken to the Inova Loudoun Hospital at Lansdowne, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, Pierpaolo Verrone, 47, of Sterling, is charged with DUI and remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

At around 10 p.m. Friday, Carter was attempting to cross Cascades Parkway, just south of Middlefield Drive.
According to police, Verrone was driving his 2010 Ford Explorer heading northbound when he struck carter. Verrone remained at the scene. Police say it was determined that he was driving under the influence.

The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
