At 4:46 p.m. April 9, officers responded to an assault reported to have occurred earlier in the day in an area near the 14500 block of John Marshall Highway in Gainesville.
The victim, the 16-year-old girl from Fairfax, told police that she met two other female acquaintances in that area to watch a fight between two other female juveniles.
Once in the area, the victim said she was approached by one of the girls who was supposed to be in the fight. She then used a baseball bat to repeatedly strike the victim.
The victim was able to get away from the assailant and run to a nearby residence, police said. She contacted Prince William emergency paramedics, who transported the victim to an area hospital where police were contacted.
The officers were able to identify the suspect and also learned that one of the victim’s acquaintances had set up the encounter to have the victim assaulted, according to the police report.
