Rent, Eviction Prevention Program To Launch In Loudoun County
Renters meeting income requirements can get help under a new round of Loudoun County's rent assistance and eviction prevention.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County's program to assist renters will launch for a second round Wednesday.
The program aims to help Loudoun County renters struggling to pay rent or at risk of eviction. The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors had approved limited funding from the county's American Rescue Plan Act funds to address COVID-19 pandemic impacts. The program first launched in October using American Rescue Plan Act funds.
The county's renter program is being administered by nonprofit Loudoun Cares with Northern Virginia Family Service, Crossroads Jobs, and Legal Services of Northern Virginia.

Residents are eligible if they live in Loudoun County, have a current lease with rent over 30 percent of household income and have household income up to 8 percent of the Area Median Income. For example, the maximum household income to be eligible is $86,700 for one person, $99,050 for two people and $123,800 for four people.
Eligible residents must also "be disproportionately impacted by COVID-19," which can include those who lost pay during the pandemic, are historically marginalized populations, have experienced challenges accessing services or are adults with complex needs. Those seeking help to prevent eviction must have an eviction summons for unlawful detainer.

Applicants' landlord must agree to participate in the program and provide documents such as the signed lease, current ledger and W-9 form. For renters whose applications are approved, payments will go directly to landlords.
Pre-screening for the rent assistance and eviction prevention program will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday. Those without internet access can call Loudoun Cares at 703-669-4636 for help with submitting an application.
The program will last until Dec. 31, 2026 or as soon as funds run out.
Homeowners are not eligible for the program, but those having difficulty making mortgage payments can find assistance from housing counselors approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Loudoun Cares also has a utility assistance program.
