Riverdogs Raise $18K for Kyle’s Kamp

The 13U team will play at Nats Park after helping raise money that beneifts the Children's National Medical Center.

Ashburn's 13U Pomotac Riverdogs baseball team raised more than $18,000 during a recent drive for the Kyle's Kamp Woodbat Tournament, sponsored by the Washington Nationals. Proceeds go to The Children’s National Medical Center.

Because the team’s work resulted in raising the fourth highest total of the 150 participating teams, the Riverdogs will be among the teams playing an exhibition game at Nationals Park on Friday, May 25. The Riverdogs play at 4 p.m.

“They worked so hard to raise money for this charity, and this added reward is an unbelievable treat,” said Renee Ventrice, a team mother.

Ventrice’s family created a "Big Brother Baseball" program to raise money, during which her son taught baseball basics to kids ages 4 to 9. All of those earnings were given to the fundraiser. Team member Justin Weiss donated his bar mitzvah earnings to the charity.
