LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Registration for the Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition is now open. This year, the group is accepting middle and high schoolers from Fairfax County.

Held annually since 2010, the Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition is a program of Loudoun Youth Inc. As individuals or members of a team, middle and high school students create and implement plans to address issues and improve the community.

Once registered, students work on their chosen projects with teammates, parents, teachers and school counselors in preparation for the Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition in March 2021.

Dozens of high school and middle school students submitted projects for the competition held earlier this year. However, due to the coronavirus crisis, the competition was moved to a virtual format. Projects offered ways to protect the environment, promote health, and promote education support.

For the competition in 2021, organizers are prepared for in-person event should it be safe to do so, or virtual again if necessary.
