Sterling Man Charged With Brandishing Firearm During Fight

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office: Scuffle occurred inside local restaurant.

Loudun County police apprehended a Sterling man early Sunday and charged him with brandishing a firearm during a fight in a local restaurant.

The suspect, Mario A. Rivera, 32, was charged after an individual waved down a sheriff’s deputy on patrol at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 150 block of Enterprise Street in Sterling, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. The individual said that a subject in a vehicle had just brandished a firearm, the report said.

An investigation revealed there was a fight inside the restaurant and during the altercation, Rivera displayed a firearm, according to the report. Rivera was located inside another vehicle with another person; he also was charged with being drunk in public.

A second person with Rivera also was charged with being drunk in public, but the person’s name and residence were not released. The firearm was recovered inside the vehicle, the report said.
