LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A 17-year-old boy from Sterling has been charged in connection with a June 11 shooting that left three people injured, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office announced.

All three victims were released from the hospital after they received treatment for injuries suffered in the shooting.

Since the suspect is under the age of 18, the sheriff's office has not publicly identified him by name. Virginia law limits when law enforcement agencies can publicly identify children accused of crimes.

The boy is charged with one count of attempted aggravated murder, three counts of malicious wounding, and four counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The boy has been in police custody at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center since June 13.

He was arrested on June 13 after a traffic stop in Sterling, police said. During the stop, the deputy learned the boy had a firearm. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18 and carrying a concealed weapon.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on June 11 near N. Fillmore Avenue and Fletcher Road, police said. Deputies said they found one victim at the scene of the shooting, while two other victims returned to the scene later.

Detectives said the shooting was not random and the suspect targeted at least one of the victims.

The sheriff's office said deputies have served multiple search warrants and they recovered a vehicle that was involved in the shooting.
