Subramanyam Raises $100K In 1 Day After Announcing Congressional Run
Suhas Subramanyam, a Virginia delegate from Ashburn, has raised $100,000 since announcing a congressional campaign on Thursday.

ASHBURN, VA — On Thursday, Delegate Suhas Subramanyam announced his candidacy for the 10th district congressional seat currently held by Jennifer Wexton. On Friday, Subramanyam's campaign said they had already raised more than $100,000.
In September, Wexton announced that she would not seek re-election in 2024 as she battles Parkinson's Disease. In recent months, 10 candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties have thrown their hat in the ring.

"Congresswoman Wexton has been a friend, mentor, and forceful advocate for Northern Virginia in Congress, using skills she honed serving in Richmond," Subramanyam said in a news relelase. "During my own time in the legislature, I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish on gun violence, the environment, and reproductive rights."

Subramanyam said he was inspired to run due to concerns about Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Their extremism and political games have done nothing to bring down costs or make things better for Northern Virginia families. The threat is real, and it's urgent," Subramanyam said. "This community is where my family immigrated, my kids were born, and my wife and I got married, and it is absolutely vital that we elect someone in Virginia’s 10th District who puts that community, not the MAGA agenda, first."
Within 24 hours, Subramanyam's campaign announced that it had raised more than $100,000. Official fundraising numbers from the fourth quarter of the year will be released in January 2024.
"I am excited that my record of service and commitment to taking on tough fights that protect our communities is resonating, and I look forward to building on this momentum," Subramanyam said in a statement on Friday. "I am proud to see such overwhelming support from members of our community who know I will deliver real results for them in Congress."
