STERLING, VA — Police in Loudoun County have made an arrest in connection with a shooting in Sterling that injured three people in June 2022.

The three victims received treatment at a hospital and were later released.

On Friday, deputies arrested 19-year-old Isaias Lainez-Alvarado of Reston. He is charged with three counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony and three counts of malicious wounding.

Lainez-Alvarado is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. If convicted of all charges, he could face more than 60 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

Another suspect, who police identified as a 17-year-old boy from Sterling, was arrested in June 2022. He was charged with one count of attempted aggravated murder, three counts of malicious wounding, and four counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on June 11 near N. Fillmore Avenue and Fletcher Road, police said. Deputies said they found one victim at the scene of the shooting, while two other victims returned to the scene later.

Detectives said the shooting was not random and the suspects targeted at least one of the victims
