Washington Commanders' Everett Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter After Loudoun Crash

ASHBURN, VA — Deshazor Everett, a safety for the Washington Commanders, turned himself in to police in Loudoun County on Tuesday. Everett is charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal car crash on Gum Spring Road in December, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities said Everett was driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road around 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 23. Investigators claimed that Everett was traveling at speeds of more than 90 miles per hour; the speed limit is 45 miles per hour in that section of Gum Spring Road.

Police said the car veered off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over. A passenger in the car, Olivia Peters of Las Vegas, was taken to Stonesprings Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries, authorities said.

Everett suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said at the time of the crash.

In December, the Washington Commanders, which was then known as the Washington Football Team, released a statement expressing sympathy for Peters and her family. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy," the team said. "Our team has alerted the league office and is cooperating with local authorities."

Everett was originally held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond. Authorities have not announced a court date for Everett.
