Check out the Awakening Festival or Luke Spring's performance at Wolf Trap

This weekend offers Ashburn residents a variety of opportunities to do something fun and different. Here a couple of nearby suggestions you may not be aware of:
The Awakening Festival provides a Christian music haven for lovers of faith-based music. Gates open Friday, Sept. 17, at 2:30pm. Fireflight kicks off the event at 6:15pm, followed by Kutless and Third Day. Gates open Saturday, Sept. 18, at 8:00am and a full day of music begins with Restless Street at 10:30am. Additional acts include IVORYLINE, 11:15 am; Reilly, 12:15pm; The Afters, 1:30pm; Grits, 2:45pm; Pillar, 4pm; Sanctus Real, 5:20pm; and Hawk Nelson, 7:30pm. Professional skateboarder Christian Hosoi speaks at 6:45pm and Thousand Foot Krutch closes the festival with a 9:15pm show.
Ashburn's tap-dancing extraordinaire, Luke Spring, performs, along with other dancers from the Studio Bleu Dance Center at Wolf Trap's Filene Center on Sept. 18 at 10:00am. Luke won acclaim after wowing crowds at the Washington, DC, Tap Festival. Videos of his footwork went viral and he landed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. His performance this weekend is part of the International Children's Festival. The festival take place on Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10:00am-4:00pm Check out our story about Luke by Taghrid Barron.
