Where To Dispose Of And Recycle Christmas Trees In Loudoun County
Christmas has come and gone. Now, many Loudoun residents are wondering what they should do with their shedding Christmas tree.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Christmas has come and gone. As Loudoun County residents prepare for New Year's Eve, they'll be looking for the best way to dispose of their Christmas trees.
In Loudoun County, residents have a few options for their trees.
- Residents with private trash collection companies should reach out to their provider. Some companies allow customers to leave a tree with regular trash and recycling, while others may have designated tree collection days.
- The Town of Leesburg will have two tree collection days on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Monday, Jan. 8. Patriot Disposal will recycle the live trees after collecting them from curbsides.
- After the above dates, Leesburg crews will collect smaller trees during their regularly scheduled brush collection. This will only apply to trees shorter than 8 feet tall with trunks that are less than 6 inches in diameter. These smaller trees can be set out on Sunday evenings.
- Trees can be dropped off at the following locations:
- Claude Moore Park, 46150 Loudoun Park Lane, Sterling
- Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive, Purcellville
- Meadows Pool Parking Lot, 42920 Center Street, South Riding
- Game Protective Association, 16 South Berlin Pike, Lovettsville
- Loudoun County Landfill Recycling Center, 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg
Residents should remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, twine, and other objects before recycling trees. Leesburg officials asked town residents not to put their trees in plastic disposal bags.
