Widening of Route 606 To Be Discussed at Public Meeting

VDOT, contractor to cover plans for road's reconstruction and widening at hearing in South Riding.

The Virginia Department of Transportation, in partnership with Shirley Contracting, is holding a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting for the reconstruction and widening of Route 606 south of Evergreen Mills Road to the Dulles Greenway from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Freedom High School, 25450 Riding Center Drive in South Riding.

Following completion, Route 606 will be widened to a four-lane divided roadway with two lanes in each direction. The project will include a new intersection at Route 606/Loudoun County Parkway and connection to areas to the north on the Loudoun County Parkway.

Other major project elements include stormwater management facilities, a shared use path, noise barriers and new bridges carrying Route 606 over the Horsepen Dam emergency spillway.
