The Wine'ing Butcher Set To Close In Ashburn

The Wine'ing Butcher, an Ashburn shop that offered meats and specialty wines, will permanently close this weekend.

ASHBURN, VA — The Wine'ing Butcher will permanently close in Ashburn on Sunday, the shop announced on Facebook.

The butcher shop is known for its meats, pre-made sandwiches, and specialty wines.

In the announcement posted to Facebook, the owners highlighted increasing costs and staffing challenges as reasons for the closure.

"The current economic and staffing challenges, goods availability to increasing costs, have made it impossible to sustain our current model," the facility said on Facebook. "We cherish the achievements and experiences we’ve had throughout these years, and it brings us great sadness to say that this Sunday will be our final day of operation."

The Wine'ing Butcher had been an Ashburn staple for more than 10 years. In comments, several patrons expressed their gratitude and sorrow.

"We ordered a lot from your restaurant during COVID, it was so nice to be able to order and bring home. We will miss you, and hope you can find a way to come back," Marion Barreto wrote. "I will miss the Harvest Salad with chicken and that yummy dressing most of all."

In the announcement, the Wine'ing Butcher's ownership acknowledged their workers, customers, and the broader community.

"To our beloved community and valued customers, we want you to know that we have truly valued our time here and the relationships we’ve built," the owners wrote. "Your loyalty and patronage have made this journey unforgettable."

In updates posted to Facebook, the Wine'ing Butcher said they would be speaking with the facility's landlord and exploring all options. But for now, Sunday will be their last day in business.

"While we must close our doors now, we remain hopeful for the future. We leave the door open to the possibility of exploring new concepts down the road," the shop's owners said. "For now, we must face the reality of these recent developments, and we apologize for the abruptness of this decision."
