Woman Duped by DHS Phone Scam in Sterling: Police

She got a phone call from a man "from 911," says the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, and was told her immigration paperwork was missing.

STERLING, VA — A woman fell prey to a DHS phone scam Friday in the 45000 block of Wellesley Terrace, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

She told police she received a call from a man saying he was "from 911." He said her immigration paperwork was missing and a warrant would be issued for her arrest.

She was told to go to the "DHS" website — presumably the Department of Homeland Security — and click on "contact us."
