Woman Hospitalized After BMW Hit By Tractor-Trailer
Crash closes Route 9 for two hours, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A motorist is in serious condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital after a tractor-trailer ran a red light on Route 9 Tuesday and struck her BMW sedan, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash resulted in Route 9 being closed for nearly two hours on Tuesday morning as sheriff’s deputies investigated the accident. The sheriff’s office did not release the automobile driver’s name.

Emergency personnel responded at 9:36 a.m. to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 9 and Clarkes Gap Road in Paeonian Springs, west of Leesburg. The International tractor-trailer was traveling west on Route 9 when the truck driver disregarded a red traffic signal at the intersection and struck the 2002 BMW325i, police said.

The driver of the BMW was attempting to make a left-hand turn on Route 9, and the crash resulted in a T-bone-style collision, police said. Upon impact, the BMW was pushed into the eastbound lanes and came to a rest on the right shoulder.
The tractor-trailer driver was issued a traffic summons for reckless driving, according to the sheriff’s office.
