Woofie's Offers Free Walks To Dogs Of Front-Line Medical Workers

Woofie's, a Loudoun-based pet services business, is offering free dog walks and grooming services to front-line medical workers.

ASHBURN, VA — Woofie's, a Loudoun-based pet services business, is offering free dog walks and grooming services to front-line medical workers who are spending long shifts at the hospital, leaving their dogs at home alone for extended periods of time. Woofie’s customers and members of the community donated money to sponsor the service for the front-line workers.

“Our healthcare workers already have so much to think about it in the wake of this pandemic. If we can help ease their minds by caring for their pets while they're away, we are more than happy to do it," Amy Reed, co-founder of Woofie’s, said Thursday in a statement. "It also gives us the opportunity to show them how grateful we are for the work that they do.”

Woofie’s also is offering no-contact, curbside pet wellness services at its main office in Ashburn. Customers drive to the office at their scheduled appointment time and wait curbside while a Woofie’s team member, wearing personal protective gear, takes their dog for a nail trim or bath.

Earlier this month, Woofie's also started a new service to help Northern Virginia residents who are homebound and need pickup and delivery services during the coronavirus crisis. Under the new service called Fetch, Woofie's employees will deliver groceries or medications to people who are having difficulty obtaining necessary items in a reasonable time.

Customers in Loudoun County and western Fairfax County can text their shopping list to Woofie's and an employee will deliver the groceries without contact to the customer.
