Woofie's Offers Grocery, Medication Deliveries During Coronavirus

Woofie's will deliver groceries, medications and other items to your home at a time when home delivery service is in high demand.

NORTHERN VIRGINIA — Woofie's, a Loudoun-based pet services business, has started a new service to help Northern Virginia residents who are homebound and need pickup and delivery services during the coronavirus crisis. Under the new service called Fetch, Woofie's employees will deliver groceries or medications to people who are having difficulty obtaining necessary items in a reasonable time.

Customers in Loudoun County and western Fairfax County can text their shopping list to Woofie's and an employee will deliver the groceries without contact to the customer. Across the country, grocery store delivery services like Instacart have seen a surge in demand during the coronavirus crisis. But many grocery delivery service companies have waiting lists of at least a week.

“We’ve seen a big demand from people who are sheltered-in-place and who need medicine, food, and even someone to take their pet to the vet,” Woofie’s co-founder and co-owner Leslie Barron said Wednesday in a statement.

Woofie's is known for its pet sitting, dog walking and mobile pet spa services. But due to restrictions in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Woofie's has had to cut back on some of its services. “We want to make sure our team members are still making an income during this very challenging time and we also want to help local residents in any way we can,” Barron said.
