$1M Raffle Ticket Purchased At Burke Grocery Store

A retired service member from Burke claimed one of the five $1 million prizes in the Virginia Lottery's New Year's Millionaire Raffle.

BURKE, VA — A retired U.S. Army officer couldn't believe that the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle ticket he purchased at a Burke grocery store would be worth $1 million, according to the Virginia Lottery.

“I was kind of shocked," he told Virginia Lottery officials recently. "It just feels amazing.”

The number of the ticket that the man purchased at the Giant Food at 6011 Burke Center Parkway in Burke was #038045, according to the lottery. That turned out to be one of five $1 million winning tickets the lottery reported on Jan. 1.
