$50,000 Powerball Winner Bought In West Springfield
While the $699.8 million jackpot winner wasn't from Virginia, several people won smaller Powerball prizes.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — A Powerball ticket bought in West Springfield won $50,000 in Powerball during Monday's drawing, according to the Virginia Lottery.
The winner of the $699.8 million jackpot was determined in Monday's drawing. The winner from California claims the fifth-highest prize in Powerball history and seventh-highest in all U.S. lottery games, according to CNBC.
While the jackpot winner wasn't from Virginia, over 53,000 Powerball tickets bought in the state won prizes in Monday's drawing. Two tickets won $50,000: one from Giant, 8320 Old Keene Mill Road in West Springfield and one at Joe’s Kwik Mart, 120 Berry Hill Road in Orange. These winners matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number. The winning numbers in Monday's drawing were 12-22-54-66-69, and the Powerball number was 15.

Another winner was an Oakton resident who bought a ticket online and won $1 million. The ticket matched the first five numbers and only missed the Powerball number.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The odds of matching the first five numbers to score the second prize are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.

With the $699.8 million Powerball jackpot claimed, the prize value resets. The current estimated jackpot is $20 million with the next drawing on Wednesday.
