$50K Powerball Ticket Purchased In Burke

The Powerball jackpot is up to $750 million for Wednesday's drawing.

BURKE, VA—The Powerball jackpot remains up for grabs, but three people in Virginia got substantial consolation prizes on Saturday, March 23. The winners, including one in Burke, each won $50,000.

The winning Burke ticket was bought at 7-Eleven, 6311 Lee Chapel Road. Other $50,000 tickets were bought at Giant Food, 5740 Union Mill Road, Clifton and Wawa, 15840 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights. The three winners matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number.

The jackpot is expected to reach $750 million for Wednesday's drawing. Virginia lottery officials expect to sell $3.8 million worth of Powerball tickets on Wednesday, March 27. That could equate to a whopping 3,800 tickets per minute.

Lottery participants must match all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot. Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Participants have to buy a ticket by 10 p.m. the night of the drawing.

If a winner is selected from Wednesday's drawing, the winner can either receive $750 million jackpot in 30 annual payments or a one-time cash option of approximately $465.5 million before taxes.
