9/11 Tribute Flag Ceremony Planned By Scouts In Burke Centre

Scouting groups in Burke Centre will host a ceremony followed by an open house on Sept. 11.

BURKE, VA — Scouts in Burke Centre will recognize the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with a ceremony followed by an open house.

The Scout Day event will be hosted by Scout units sponsored by the Burke Centre Conservancy: Cub Scout Pack 1345 (kindergarten to fifth grade boys and girls), Scouts BSA Troops 1345 and 1345G (ages 11 to 17 boys and girls), and Venture Crew 1345 (ages 14 to 21). The ceremony and open house will happen Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Burke Centre Conservancy grounds, 6060 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, VA.

The Sept. 11 memorial flag-raising ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Attendees will include Rep. Gerry Connolly, Virginia House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, state Sen. David Marsden, and Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw.

Following the ceremony, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venturers will host an open house with hands-on activities for all ages.
