Rescued Bald Eagle Released In Burke (Video)

Residents came out in numbers to watch the release of the bald eagle. Officers rescued the eagle after he was unable to fly.

BURKE, VA — A bald eagle rescued in December was released Sunday, Jan. 12 at Burke Lake Park.

The Fairfax County Park Authority says all were invited to watch the release at 11 a.m. The bird was released in an open field near the amphitheater and train tracks.

Fairfax County Police officer Tom Dawson helped Animal Protection Police contain the eagle near the lake on Dec. 14. The bird was on the ground and unable to fly when officers found him. Dr. Belinda Burwell, a veterinarian, rehabilitated the eagle, and his care has been completed.
