Detectives determined that the Honda was registered to Puch. The department previously said detectives from its Major Crimes Bureau and Crime Scene Section were processing evidence and working to identify a suspect.

An autopsy was expected to determine Puch’s cause and manner of death. Although police previously labeled a Facebook video about the case as involving a stabbing, the department’s written update described her injuries as upper-body trauma.

Chief Kevin Davis is scheduled to host a news briefing at 1 p.m. at public safety headquarters to provide details of the case. Police had not disclosed a possible motive for the homicide.
