Greenspring Residents Honored During National Physical Fitness and Sports Month
To celebrate National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, Greenspring held an awards ceremony on May 9 honoring new inductees into the Greenspring Fitness Center's Hall of Fame.
has planned several activities for National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May, including a yoga alignment clinic and a nature walk near Accotink Creek.
Greenspring residents are known stewards of campaigns promoting a healthier lifestyle, as is evident through their partnership with the National Institute on Aging’s Go4Life campaign. Greenspring held the first ever Go4Life campaign event at the campus in Springfield in November 2011.
Throughout the month of May, Greenspring will continue celebrating those residents who have shown a dedication and commitment to living a healthier lifestyle.

On Wednesday, May 9, the community held an awards ceremony honoring new inductees into the Greenspring Fitness Center's Hall of Fame. Residents honored were those who have logged 500, 1000, and 2000 visits to the on-campus fitness center.

To date, 194 residents have been inducted into the "500" club, 53 residents into the "1000" club, and 7 residents into the "2000" club. "I'm so glad to be joining my husband in the club," said Bobbie Chabot, one of the "2000" club inductees. Bobbie's husband, Frank Chabot, was one of the very first residents to reach 2000 visits to the fitness center in 2009. Though Frank has since passed away, his legacy in the fitness center is always remembered. "Frank was truly a pillar in the fitness center," said Brad Hibbs, Greenspring's Wellness Manager.
