Fairfax Station Church Burglary Suspect Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Found In Hybla Valley
A suspect was arrested after a church break-in on Ox Road and a stolen church vehicle was found in Hybla Valley, police say.

FAIRFAX STATION, VA — A Lorton man was arrested in connection with Thursday's burglary at a church in Fairfax Station after investigators said a stolen church vehicle was found less than 24 hours later in Hybla Valley.
Fairfax County police officers responded at 10 a.m. on Thursday to the 4900 block of Ox Road for a reported burglary at the church. Investigators said the suspect forced entry by breaking a rear sliding glass door. Once inside, the suspect damaged property and stole items, according to police. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division then took over the case.
During the investigation, detectives learned that a vehicle owned by the church had also been stolen, according to the incident report. After a license plate reader alert identified the stolen vehicle, detectives from the Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit responded to the 7900 block of Ladson Lane in Hybla Valley, where the vehicle was located, according to police.

Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Akuamoa Boateng of Lorton, who they took into custody. The property stolen from the church was recovered from the vehicle, according to authorities.

Boateng was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with burglary, auto theft, larceny with intent to sell, felony destruction and possession of Schedule I/II drugs, according to police. He was then held without bond.
Boateng was arraigned on Friday morning in Fairfax County General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. on July 1, according to court documents.
All of the charges Boateng is facing are felonies. The most serious charge is possession of Schedule I/II drugs, which is a Class 5 felony. If convicted on this charge, he faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison or 12 months in jail plus a fine of up to $2,500, under the code of Virginia.
