Keith Fimian Visits with Greenspring Republican Club

Fimian focused his presentation at Greenspring on the importance of start-up companies to the health of the nation's job growth.

Fimian’s presentation was focused on the importance of start-up companies to the health of the nation’s job growth.

“Uncertainty is the biggest enemy to job growth,” said Keith Fimian, addressing the Greenspring Republican Club at their monthly meeting on January 3. 

Fimian said business-friendly policies are what are needed to help start-up companies get off the ground. He suggested ways Congress can help create jobs including

  • Eliminating the capital gains tax on start-up companies;
  • Extending the Bush tax cuts;
  • Approving free-trade agreements with Columbia, South Korea and Panama;
  • Requiring Congressional approval on regulations with costs in excess of $50 million. 

Fimian told the group he is “very seriously” considering a run for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2013.

Fimian was the Republican challenger to Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA-11) in 2010.  He was defeated by less than 1000 votes.

According to his website, Fimian recently launched the Growth, Opportunity & Prosperity Fund, “to elect pro-business candidates dedicated to keeping Virginia a great state for business by building a vibrant economy in every corner of the Commonwealth.”   He is chairman and founder of U.S. Inspect, and president of Youth Leadership Foundation of Washington, D.C.
