“I like the kids to be disciplined and hard working," said Rutherford. "I try to give them opportunities to become better baseball players, and we’ve had groups come through here that have been willing to take advantage of those opportunities,” he said. “We get kids who buy into our program and who are willing to work hard.”

“We played really good defense,” said Rutherford, reflecting on his team’s victory. “We had two outfield assists, great plays by our outfielders and we turned a double play. We did some good things on defense. “

We have a pretty good offensive club, but I don’t think that it’s our best,” he said. “Our pitching is probably close to the best I’ve had and defensively, I can say that it’s as good as I’ve had. All around, this is probably the best team.”

“I haven’t seen them play this year but I’ve talked to people who have. We’re going to try to play our best game. I feel like if we do that, we’ll have a very good shot of winning when we take the field.”
