Burke Club Pilates Offers Classes, More For National Pilates Day

Pilates in the Park at Burke Lake Park and gift cards for taking the free introductory class will be part of the festivities.

BURKE, VA—To mark National Pilates Day on May 4, the Burke Club Pilates will be offering a number of activities throughout the weekend.

"While other commemorative holidays are meant to be observed, National Pilates Day is
about participation – inviting others to demonstrate the unique mind and body
connection that Pilates promises to those practicing it frequently," said Club Pilates Burke owner and instructor Julie Karickhoff.

From May 3 to May 6, anyone who takes a free introductory class will receive a $10 gift card to Whole Foods, Target or other places. In addition, Club Pilates Burke will offer its own Pilates in the Park - Mat Mararthon event at Burke Lake Park on Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m.-noon. Participants will compete in special challenges and see how many classes they can finish. The schedule is as follows: 10 a.m. -beginner class; 10:30 a.m. - intermediate; 11:30 a.m. - advanced. Prizes include free reformer (machine) classes at the studio.

Anyone interested in becoming a Pilates instructor will have a special opportunity that weekend. For anyone enrolling in teacher training, Club Pilates will cover the cost of training manuals. A teacher training session will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m. Instructors have to complete a 500-hour training program to safely teach Pilates apparatus classes as well as TRX, TriggerPoint and Barre.

Club Pilates is the largest Pilates franchise in the U.S. with 500 studios. In the DC area, new locations are in Burke, Fair Lakes and Tysons Corner.
