Burke Glory Days Grill Wins Major Accolade

The original Glory Days Grill and Jim Rafferty received the honor at the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association awards.

BURKE, VA—The original Glory Days Grill in Burke has received recognition in the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association’s (VRLTA) 2018 Ordinary Awards. Glory Days Grill in Burke, along with managing partner Jim Rafferty, won Restaurant of the Year. In addition, Executive Vice President, Gary Cohen won the Jim Wordsworth Award for Restaurateur of the Year.

The winners "represent all the extraordinary people and companies that make up Virginia’s hospitality and tourism industry," said Eric Terry, the president of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association. "On behalf of the VRLTA, our staff, and board, we applaud the efforts of these individuals for the exemplary work they have done and will continue to do."

The Burke Glory Days Grill opened in spring 1996. By building a base of loyal customers, it has become a mainstay for the community and sports fans alike. Rafferty is often affectionately called the "Mayor of Burke" because of his efforts to integrate himself into the community. Meanwhile Cohen has over forty years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry in Northern Virginia.

Glory Days Grill, a sports bar offering a large menu complemented by numerous televisions showing sports games, has 33 restaurants in five states. The last two years have been a time of growth for the chain, with four opening last year and five more by the end of 2018. One of its recent additions is a restaurant in Alexandria.

Glory Days Grill is open 11 a.m.-midnight Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. at 9526 Old Keene Mill Rd, Burke.
