Burke Residents Lose Home In Huge Blaze
Two Burke residents have been forced out of their home after a fire started in their attic.

BURKE, VA—A scary blaze in a Burke home Sunday night has left its two residents displaced.
Firefighters responded to the fire around 9:27 p.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Burnside Landing Drive. Multiple fire hoses were necessary to extinguish the fire, which extending above the kitchen ceiling to the top of the attic.
Luckily the two residents escaped unharmed, and no firefighters were injured.

One of the residents became aware of the fire after hearing a crackling noise from the ceiling and called 911. The smoke alarm appeared to be working, activating after the residents escaped. Investigations show an electrical malfunction from the power source to the recessed lighting sparked the attic fire.
The fire caused $133,213 in damages, according to initial estimates. The residents declined Red Cross assistance.
