Celebrating Diversity at Greenspring

The community hosted their annual Diversity & Inclusion Expo on Friday, July 10

(Springfield, Va.) - On Friday, July 10th, Greenspring retirement community hosted their annual Diversity & Inclusion Expo. Each year, the Expo celebrates the distinctiveness that diversity brings to the community with an event full of cultural performances, ethnic cuisine and clothing, as well as a number of vendors and resident groups representative of diversity and inclusion. Some of those outside vendors included Rita’s Henna Tattooing, Ten Thousand Villages, and ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others). Participating resident groups included English as a Second Language (ESL), Multi-Cultural Dialogue, the PFLAG (Parents, and the Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) chapter, and the Democratic and Republican clubs, among others.

Greenspring is proud to employ an extremely diverse staff with employees hailing from dozens of countries all over the world – Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Japan, Philippines, and Mexico, just to name a few. Greenspring recognizes the importance that a diverse workforce has to the success of the community and sponsors events celebrating both the cultural and spiritual diversity of residents and staff. Many of these events are sponsored by the community’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, made up of staff members who coordinate celebrations such as the recent Expo.
