Crash Turns Fatal In Burke Area: Police
A driver died in a two-vehicle crash on Fairfax County Parkway, according to police.

BURKE, VA—One driver is dead after a crash on New Year's Eve in Burke, according to Fairfax County Police.
Around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to Fairfax County Parkway at New Road for the two-vehicle crash. Police say a driver failed to anticipate the bend on the road, causing the car to go off the roadway to the left. She tried to correct this and lost control, leading the car to head toward oncoming northbound traffic and hit a car.
The driver, Melanie McKenna, 20, of Centreville, died on the scene. The driver of the other car and two of McKenna’s passengers were taken to the hospital.

Police are investigating whether speed, alcohol and drugs were a factor for McKenna. They are not believed to be factors for the other driver.
