Effective Parenting of Teens Class Offered

Lake Braddock/West Springfield Community Coalition sponsors five-week session at Lake Braddock Secondary School.

Systematic Training for Effective Parenting of Teens (STEP-Teen) is being offered by the Lake Braddock/West Springfield Community Coalition at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 23, March 1, 8, 15, 22, at .

Consisting of five classes, the program will help parents:

  • Understand their teen;
  • Communicate with respect and encouragement;
  • Encourage cooperation and problem solving;
  • Use consequences and build responsibility;
  • Help their teen make good decisions.

Tracey Butler Johnson, Lake Braddock's middle school counselor, will lead the sessions. She strongly encourages attendance at all five.

The $45 per person or couple registration fee includes one STEP Parent Handbook.   Pre-registration is required.  To register, contact Iris Warren at iris-warren@cox.net.

The West Springfield/Lake Braddock Community Coalition is part of the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County Public Schools and is partially funded by the Federal Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and the Drug- Free Communities Support Grant.
