Fairfax CASA’s Auction Dinner – “Splurge for Children!”

Every few days, an abused or neglected child enters the juvenile court protection system. These innocent victims need someone to speak on their behalf – an advocate -- to protect their fundamental rights and ensure they do not fall through the cracks of the child welfare system.

Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recruits and trains caring, committed adults to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA volunteers. CASA volunteers stand by the side of abused and neglected children and advocate for their best interests in court. The volunteers are “promise keepers” for children who have endured the trauma of abuse and the turmoil of court intervention. Children with a CASA volunteer have a better chance of healing, reclaiming their childhoods, and living happy and productive lives.

It costs Fairfax CASA approximately $1,200 annually to provide a CASA volunteer to just one child, and our volunteers serve more than 430 children a year. The program depends on the generosity of individual donors to help ensure that a CASA volunteer is there to advocate for every child who falls under the court’s domain.

Please join us for Fairfax CASA’s Auction Dinner – “Splurge for a Child!” on September 9, 2014 @ 7pm at The Wine House and Lift up a Child’s Life. More information contact Jennifer Bellhouse jbellhouse@casafairfax.org.
