Fire Stations To Hold Open House In Fairfax County

FAIRFAX, VA — Members of the community are invited to open houses at fire stations around Fairfax County on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The open houses will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families can meet firefighters, see fire trucks, learn about fire safety and join other activities.

The open houses are part of Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 6 to 12. The week is planned around Oct. 9 to mark the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which killed over 250 people and displaced 100,000. Aimed at reducing fatalities caused by fires, Fire Prevention Week features public education about how to stay safe when a fire occurs. The week has been observed nationally since 1925 and is the longest running public health observance in the U.S., according to the National Fire Protection Association.

Below is a list of fire stations and addresses. Jefferson Fire Station 18 will not be participating, as a new station is being built.
