Giant Store Employees Thwart Armed Robbery Attempt by Masked Suspect: Police
Suspect approached manager; additional employees became aware of the robbery and intervened, causing the suspect to flee, police said.

Employees at the Burke Town Center Giant thwarted an armed robbery attempt late Saturday night by a masked suspect, according to Fairfax County Police.
The attempted robbery took place at the store, located at 6011 Burke Center Parkway, on Saturday night, at 11:53 p.m., according to police.
The suspect approached the manager of the Giant Food store, police said, and implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

Additional employees became aware of the robbery and intervened, causing the suspect to flee from the store without any money, police said. There were no injuries.
The suspect was described as a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, according to police. He was wearing a black mask, glasses, a black, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
