GMU Student Sentenced For Selling LSD To Man Who Jumped To Death

A GMU student jumped out of a window and died three days after a frat brother sold him the hallucinogenic drug.

A George Mason University student will serve three years in prison for selling LSD to a student who jumped out of a window to his death.

Alejandro Porrata admitted to selling the hallucinogenic drug to Tristan Medina, a Sigma Alpha Epsilon frat brother, last September. Medina used the drug three days later and jumped out of a five-story dorm window, NBC Washington reports.

An autopsy confirmed Medina had LSD in his system.

The official charge against Porrata was distribution of a controlled drug. A judge sentenced him to 10 years with seven suspended, as well as 100 hours of community service and probation. He originally faced up to 40 years in prison.

"You are a drug dealer," said the judge to Porrata, according to NBC Washington. "You did a very stupid thing, and as a result, your family is suffering, the Medina family is suffering, and you will suffer as well."
