Greenspring Hosts Fraud Prevention & Awareness Expo

The EXPO is held each year at Greenspring to educate residents on how seniors can protect themselves from fraud.

Greenspring, an Erickson Senior Living-managed community in Springfield, Va., held its 7th Fraud Prevention & Awareness Expo on March 8. The educational event was held in celebration of National Consumer Protection Week (March 3-9, 2024) and National Slam the Scam Day on March 7, 2024.

The EXPO is held each year at Greenspring to educate residents and the families of residents on how seniors can protect themselves from fraud and exploitation and address what systems and services are in place at Greenspring to protect residents from scams. The event included 22 exhibitors and keynote speakers from the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, FBI, and Attorney Jenn Crane from Odin, Feldman & Pittleman.

In addition, the Virginia Department of Treasury searched 129 attendee names for unclaimed property. Of those, 63 attendees found unclaimed monies totaling $12,873.75. The highest amount found was $1,952.60.

The EXPO was sponsored by the Greenspring Resident Council Philanthropy Committee and Philanthropy Team and is just one of the many engaging community and philanthropic events organized by Greenspring throughout the year.
