Help Support Bethany House of Northern Virginia

More than 50 percent of homicides in Fairfax County are domestic violence related.

Domestic Violence is a serious and pervasive problem in our community. A 2013 annual report prepared for the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Of the Domestic Violence Prevention, Policy and Coordinating Council found that Fairfax County Police receive nearly 1,000 domestic calls for service every month and average more than 160 related arrests. Even more alarming, more than 50% of homicides in Fairfax County are domestic violence related.

Throughout the Month of October, you can help Bethany House shine the light on domestic violence and raise awareness about this important issue. Here are a few easy ways you can help:

1. Make a donation in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Donate $31 for 31 days in the month of October here. Then tag 4 of your friends and challenge them to match your gift.

2. Follow Bethany House on Facebook and Twitter, to view and share our tips and information and help spread awareness.

3. Drop by the Domestic Violence Awareness Resource Fair on October 16th at Inova Fairfax Hospital and stop by the Bethany House table or volunteer to help staff the table and hand out brochures and information for an hour or two. Contact Jasmin Witcher to volunteer.

4. Attend our fundraiser at Malek’s Pizza in Springfield, VA on October 23rd. Come out to Malek’s between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm and Bethany House will receive a percentage of all sales. Remember to bring the flyer to have your meal count! Proceeds raised from this event will help to provide shelter and supportive services to women and children served by Bethany House.
