Laura Ingraham Sites Set on Tim Kaine's U.S. Senate Seat

She tells "Fox & Friends" she may try for the GOP nomination. The conservative talk-show host said "well-connected" Virginians are pushing.

WASHINGTON — While appearing on 'Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning, conservative talk-radio host Laura Ingraham confirmed a Washington Examiner report from Sunday that she may well make a run at Tim Kaine (D-Va) and his U.S. Senate seat.

"I'm considering it," she said. "I think it's always good to mix things up, and I've been in Washington for a long time, and I have great respect for Congress and institutions of government."

Kaine, Hillary Clinton's running mate during her failed bid for the presidency, is a popular former Virginia governor who was elected to the Senate in 2012 by beating former Sen. George Allen (R-Va.).

Ingraham, a frequent Fox News contributor and the founder of Lifezette.com, a mostly conservative website, said during the interview she's been approached by many "well-connected" Virginians who want her to take a shot.

"That's very flattering," she said. "I'll decide in the future, and 'Fox & Friends' will be the first to know once I make a decision."

The Examiner reported that her business partner, Peter Anthony has also begun buying website domain names, including ingrahamsenate.net, ingrahamsenate.com, ingrahamforvirginia.com and ingraham2018.com.

But the field for the GOP nomination could include Reps. Dave Brat and Barbara Comstock, and perhaps former Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli, who ran unsuccessfully against Terry McAuliffe for governor three years ago.
