Midday Turnout Averages Thirteen Percent

Five precincts report steady flow of voters, but numbers still low.

Halfway through the voting day, five precincts in the Burke, Springfield area had lines.  Election officers at each site said turnout has been steady.  Numbers, however, are averging about 13 percent of registered voters.

Precinct 626 - Saratoga
621 voters (13.2 percent) had cast their ballot.
An election official said, "Turnout has been heavy for this district." 

Precinct 623 - Alban
139 voters out of 1,328 had cast their ballot.
"Turnout has been very good so far in this precinct," said an election officer.

Precinct 801 - Burke
586 people had voted.
"We had a slow start, but it's been picking up," said an election officer.

Precinct 118 - Lake Braddock
448 voters of 4,013 registered has cast their ballot.
This was the only percent visited where there was no line to vote.

Precinct 125 - Signal Hill
578 voters of 3,211 registered had voted.
"It's been steady and busy," said an election officer.
