Money Raised for Burke Family After House Fire

The community is raising money for a Burke family that lost their home in a fire.

BURKE, VA -- The community is raising money for a Burke family that lost their home in a fire Thursday, April 13.

Henry Kim, his wife and two children lost their Burke home and belongings in the fire. No was injured. Fairfax County fire investigators estimate the damages at $163,750. The family rents the townhome in Burke.

Kim is the manager at Streets Market and Cafe in Alexandria, and his employees are rallying behind the family. Angie Napolitano, an employee at Streets Market and Cafe, started a GoFundMe page for the Kim family.

"As renters they had no insurance and never imagined anything like this could ever happen," she wrote on the GoFundMe page. "I for one am so relieved that they are all ok. But I cannot fathom the loss of everything."

The Kim family was just returning home Thursday night when fire and rescue crews were arriving on the scene. Investigators found the fire was caused by a malfunctioning refrigerator.
