National Night Out, David Kitchen Band, Krav Maga Workshop

Five things to look forward to in Burke this week.

It's Monday again, but don't fret. The weekend will be here again soon enough. Here's five things happening in the Annandale-areaĀ this week.

  1. Get ready to mingle with your neighbors:Ā National Night OutĀ is Tuesday.Ā Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, the annual event encourages local police and fire departments to engage with residents in their community in an effort toĀ take a stand against violence and crime. BurkeĀ Patch will have a full list of Burke-areaĀ neighborhood events on the site Monday morning.Ā
  2. Think You Can Dance (or Skateboard)?Ā Wakefield Park will be overrun with skateboarders and urban dancers on Saturday for the second annual "Illest Ingredients" event. Admission to the family-friendly event is $10.
  3. The David Kitchen Band will perform at Royal Lake Park on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Not sure if Kitchen's music is for you? You can check out some of his music streaming live on the band's website.
  4. Don't forget: theĀ Burke Centre Library is currently undergoing renovations, so it may be a little noisy if you visit the library this week.
  5. The Pohick Regional Library is hosting a Krav Maga workshop for teens on Thursday at 7 p.m. Registration is currently open online.
