Regular Drug Collection To Debut In West Springfield
Due to the success of the Drug Take Back Day, police are starting a pilot program to regularly collect drugs.

SPRINGFIELD, VAāLast weekend's drug collection was so successful, it will continue on a regular basis. Fairfax County Police are starting a six-month pilot program in the West Springfield Police District with a collection box.
Residents can visit the West Springfield District Station (6140 Rolling Road, Springfield) to drop off unused drugs in a collection box. Anyone can safely dispose of prescriptions there for free. The drug take back bin does not accept syringes, needles, liquids, or pressurized canisters. This program will also be offering a free drug-deactivating pouch which allows for the safe discarding of prescription drugs at home, while supplies last.
A drug collection box is also located in the Town of Herndon Police Station (397 Herndon Parkway, #300) and other public disposal locations. Regular collections could expand to the other Fairfax County police stations if successful in West Springfield.
