Robinson Seniors Sign Letters of Intent

Robinson High School held a small signing day ceremony today for three of their graduating senior student athletes.

Robinson High School students and faculty have something to smile about as three of their senior athletes signed their letters of intent to play at their respective colleges today.

Varsity volleyball senior Tiffany Connaster signed to Temple University; her teammate Susie Murach signed to Wingate University.  Senior golf player Alexandra Austin signed her letter of intent to play for Radford University.

"These girls are a representation of excellence and an extension of their school and community," said Robinson athletic director Marty Riddle towards the end of the signing ceremony.

The letter signing event was held in the Recital Hall at Robinson High School on Wednseday morning.  The girls coaches and parents were on hand to watch their players and daughters take the next big step in their athletic careers.

The season isn't over yet though for Connaster and Murach, who play their regional semi-final matchup against Stone Bridge tomorrow at Centreville High School.

Murach has had quite the impressive season thus far; she leads her team with 389 kills and has been named both the Northern Region and Concorde District MVP.

"When I was younger I always thought I was going to go to a big D 1 school," said Murach.  "After I visited [Wingate] and I met the coach and the girls they were all great and I love the campus, and they're a really good team."

Murach has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old and also has been playing for a club team in addition to the Rams.

Connaster was named to the All-Region second team and Concorde first team.  Her decision became solidified over the summer when she visited Temple University.

"I've been in the whole recruiting process since the beginning of my junior year," said Connaster.  "But really deciding on Temple was more toward the summer when I went to their camp."

Their coach Jill Pearson was also named the Northern Region and Concorde District coach of the year.

Austin's season however ended back in October, when she placed 30th overall in the state.  She said she is practicing her swing everyday and anxiously waiting to get through her senior year at Robinson and begin playing for Radford.

"I just want to be there now," said Austin.  She verbally committed to Radford in October.  Austin has played varsity golf at Robinson for all four years of her high school career.

All three athletes said they were very thankful for the help and encouragement from their parents and coaches that helped them get to where they are today.
